Where To Stay

Papaya Playa Project

Combining local culture, sustainability, and a stunning location directly on the beach, Papaya Playa Project is a unique retreat for individuals seeking a lively and eco-friendly experience in Tulum.

The property is notorious for its Jungle Casitas, which feature an open roof topped with a pool. This provides for a stunning contrast between the casita surrounded by the dense jungle on each side.

If you’re seeking some extra thrills, then be sure to time your trip to Papaya Playa Project’s monthly full moon party. You can stay up to date on their events here.

Be Tulum

Be Tulum is an upscale lifestyle hotel inspired by the rustic charm and raw natural beauty of the Mayan Riviera. The property boasts 64 exclusive and private suites between the jungle, sand and the sea.

Our favorite room is the Fuego Suite — which features an impeccably decorated room and plunge pool, with a large cantilever door enticing you to jump in and enjoy the tropical heat.

Via Villa NIMI
Villa NIMI

Villa NIMI is a newly constructed vacation rental located in La Veleta, an exclusive part of Tulum closer to the small town, and moved back into the jungle away from the beach.

Boasting an Italian marble heated pool, a relaxing and tranquil zen garden, as well as a patio BBQ, Villa NIMI has amenities for every need. With 4 bedrooms and a capacity of 10 guests, this villa is perfect for group travelers.

Liana Tulum

Liana Tulum is a peaceful loft tucked into the Tulum jungle, close to restaurants, and the local town. The property consists of four spa-like units placed built around luxury and comfort, but we recommend booking this specific unit — which features stunning windows in the main area, with amenities like a rooftop pool, filtered water, and exquisite interior design.

Enjoy solitude and tranquility at this property. Spend a day on the beach, then retreat back to your calming abode carved out of the tropics.

Loyal Order Tulum

Loyal Order is a new age, groovy restaurant set directly on the beach. Here, cuisine is fused between Aegean/Mediterranean and Turkish dishes, proffered in an evocative setting.

Come for the views, stay for the vibes, return in the future for the delicious food.

Hartwood

One of the most famous restaurants in Tulum, Hartwood offers native cuisine cooked over a wood fire. Local ingredients are paired with rustic preparation to evoke flavors reminiscent of Tulum’s heritage.

Instead of offering menus, Hartwood provides a daily selection based upon what is available at local ranches and farms.

Casa Jaguar

Come for dinner, stay for the party.

Casa Jaguar offers a lively accommodation with multiple bars, lounge areas, and a dance floor on the beach — all within one place. Located conveniently within the hotel area of Tulum, Casa Jaguar can get quite crowded at night. If possible, try to grab a bite to eat for dinner here, then drink through into the evening.

You’ll stay for an amazing time while avoiding any cover fees or long lines to get in. Make a reservation using the widget below.

Sac Actun Ceynote

A trip to Tulum would be amiss if it did not include a visit to a ceynote (freshwater cave) or two. While there are thousands of ceynotes in Tulum, with a dozen or so regularly frequented by tourists, a favorite of ours is Sac Actun.

Sac Actun is a unique ceynote — while there, we found it was less crowded, offered more caverns and areas to explore, and included some stunning chances for photography.

Another fun fact about ceynotes? You’ll keep your hands in the air the whole time.

The water is that cold.
